GABfest now in preparation for the 2019 Great American Book Festival





Sure, it's a year away, but time flies when you're having fun.  It takes a village... and countless hours to put together an event of this magnitude. So we're ramping up now in preparation for this outstanding event created in celebration of the written word. Once again, Great American Book Festival will be coming to downtown Rapid City May 9th, 10th and 11th, 2019.


GABfest Writers' Conference offers a full day of events to be held on Friday, May 10th, 2019 at the Rapid City Public Library.  These events are free and open to the public.  Be watching for a complete schedule in the coming months.  







 



The Great American Book Festival, to be held at Rapid City's Main Street Square, will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 and is a family-friendly free public event. 








The GABfest Lit Walk will be returning in 2019, and is slated to be held the 
evening of  Thursday, May 9th at various downtown Rapid City Locations. 




Brought to the Rapid City community by Literary Classics, an organization which has been hosting award-winning authors from around the globe at various book festivals across the country since 2010, Literary Classics moved their annual awards program to Rapid City, South Dakota in 2017.  Great American Book Festival is a world-class book festival.  Free and open to the public, The Great American Book Festival will be held in conjunction with seminars, speaking venues, and the Literary Classics book awards.



GABfest is currently accepting Speaker Proposals as well as Sponsorships applications.  Within the coming weeks, we will also be accepting Author and Vendor applications.   Be watching for updates at GABfest.info!

Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author K Hanson


K Hanson is a new author and in the spring of 2017 he launched his debut thriller novel, The Azrael Initiative, which features two young women being thrown into the fight against ISIS. He is also working on Storm Raven, the first book in a new series which will be a YA fantasy with pirates. K lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he works as a software developer. In his spare time, when he isn’t writing, he enjoys reading, working-out, playing video games, and spending time with his wonderful girlfriend, Bobbi.

Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author Michele Hinton


Michele hails from Kentucky. She’s an indy-author who has several novels, children’s books and poetry/short stories to her credit. The genre she writes in varies. Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author Joanna Jones


Joanna Jones is a recognized author, educator and consultant. Her zest for reading and life made her a remarkable teacher of history, particularly through the children’s literature she authored. Joanna taught in the Southwest before she returned to the Black Hills. She has presented on a variety of literacy topics across the United States as well as in Portugal, Scotland, New Zealand, and China.

Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author Dorothy Rosby



Dorothy Rosby is a syndicated humor columnist whose work appears regularly in ten western and midwestern states. She was the 2015 first-place winner in the National Federation of Press Women contest, Humor Column category and a finalist for the 2015 Robert Benchley Award for Humor Writing. She is the author of two humor collections.

Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author Jan Cerney


After early retirement sixteen years ago from teaching, Jan began writing nonfiction books. Arcadia Publishing has published nine of her Images of America Series concentrating on South Dakota history. Even though she has not tried her hand at quilting for some time, Jan has written two novel series with quilting as the theme paired with mystery and adventure. She collects antique quilts and displays them throughout her home. Jan loves antiques and re-purposing old things! She lives on a ranch near Badlands National Park in South Dakota with her husband Bob. They have three children and six grandchildren

Who’s coming to the Great American Book Festival? Meet Author Nancy Todd Engler

Nancy Todd Engler, as a member of the Board of The City of Presidents, researched the personal lives of the US presidents. Nancy is presently working on her second book about the plight of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Courage to Create a Nation.
